Who knew Laundry could be so FUN!

Laundry is one of those tasks that you never quite get the SATISFACTION of completing. It just keeps on coming ...... As we spend so much time on this task, it only makes sense to make your laundry room one that you WANT to be in.

No matter what the size of your space, you can make it appealing. So, here are some of the OPTIONS, that I discuss with my Fairfield and Westchester clients, to make the laundry room more FUNCTIONAL and BEAUTIFUL!

By the way, make sure you scroll down about three quarters of the way down. One of my favorite laundry room additions is there. 🙂

Consciously pick your colors

Laundry rooms don't have to be stark and monotone. You can use this room as an opportunity to go bold especially if you tend to decorate more conservatively in the rest of your home. Let your laundry room give you the freedom to have FUN with your color scheme.

Interjecting color not only looks pretty to the eye, it can evoke certain emotions in us. For some people red conjures up excitement and blue a feeling of calm and peace.

Wallpaper is a great way to not only add color but pattern. Don't hesitate to go bold here. If your tastes changes, you can always swap it out at minimal expense.

Add texture with tile

A tile backsplash not only adds depth and texture, it enriches the overall look of your space. There are countless options ranging from neutral to bold colors and simple to sophisticated patterns.

If your laundry is on the first floor, adding some baskets and hooks so the space can also be a mudroom gives it double the function and double the fun! Just a few decorative pillows, a few accessories and you got a great space with dual function!

The laundry room is a great place to go bold with floor tile. Medallions are trending for good reason. They are fun and interesting to look at and make for a stimulating space.

Glam it up

Did you notice the chandeliers in the previous picture? In the laundry room, it's more common than not to have a light that is industrial looking but not in a good way. Maybe you even have a florescent that constantly hums when you turn it on. So why not go from zero to max style by swapping out that old light for a luxe fixture or even two. It will totally uplift the overall look of the space and your mood along with it.

Make room for your best friend

If you have the space, consider building in a cozy nook that your pup will love. This clever design will keep the dog bed out of the way and is almost a guarantee that you'll have someone to keep you company when doing laundry. What a win-win!

Coverups that are ok

When your laundry is more of a space than a room you may want to keep some or all of it concealed. Barn doors are not only attractive but a smart way to give you easy access to laundry that is tucked inside a closet. And how about these smart cabinet doors? When closed you don't even know it's a laundry space. It looks so beautiful!

You can really get clever with your coverups! Get creative with this concept to make your space not only more visually pleasing but more functional. Think about all the things you would love to have at hand but don't necessarily want to leave out all the time. These built in drying racks are smart looking and provide inspiration.

Laundry Room Racks

I don't know about you but these ideas almost make me WANT to get in my laundry room and start folding. Maybe a little bit of music and wine to top it all off.
