Jute Rug

Top Rug Trends for 2018

Area rugs can totally transform the look of a room. They can make an older home look modern, a large space look intimate and a busy space look serene. Unfortunately, your rug can also make your room look dated. So let's see what's trending in area rugs this year and how I've incorporated those trends into the homes of my Fairfield and Westchester clients.

Jute rugs were the ideal choice for this open concept Kitchen, Living and Dining Room. We used two of the same to keep the space cohesive. The organic texture of the jute added just the right dimension of warmth to this mostly white space. The result was a relaxing and casual yet polished room.

Sometimes Family Rooms with cathedral ceilings can feel a bit cavernous but we brought it all down to earth with this tone-on-tone rug in a beautiful sea blue. The depth of color added an interesting element and also kept it simple and crisp. It served as the perfect backdrop for the pops of color throughout the room and complimented the lush greenery visible through the wall of windows. We ended up with an inviting space that just feels good to be in.

Sisal rugs are so versatile in that they will work in literally any room in your home. They are also a practical choice for eating areas because they are so easy to keep clean. By placing this large sisal in this Dining Room we made the room appear spacious and we created a neutral and airy aesthetic. The gray border framed the focal point which in this case is the table and chairs. Overall, it was the perfect backdrop to show off the picture frame molding and tray ceiling. Now this Dining Room is ready for a feast.

Geometric rugs can modernize any space and come in a variety of materials and an endless choice of patterns and colors allowing you to choose just the right rug for the look you want to achieve. This Living Room has beautiful classic architectural details so we covered most of the floor with a bold blue and white rug with a honeycomb pattern in order to give it a transitional look. We then carried the geometric concept throughout the room resulting in a clean and crisp space that is simply eye-catching

This entry Foyer is pretty large with high ceilings and is very open to the middle and back of the home. We wanted to add warmth but also keep it neutral, so first, we grounded the space with a large natural fiber rug. Then we layered a cowhide on top to make it appear not only welcoming but exciting. What a fun way to welcome guests into your home.
