Fairfield Coastal Kitchen and Family Room Renovation
A Fairfield County family was in the middle of a kitchen remodel when they called in kellydesigns to assist them with the plan. What initially was a one room project turned into a four room project. kellydesigns selected new window treatments and created new furniture layouts for the living, dining and family rooms. In addition, we designed a new entry way to create a warm welcome and provide a smooth transition into the family room.
The homeowner wanted an old world feeling but with a coastal theme. The cabinets are custom made but no upper cabinets as to keep the view of the marsh as the focal point. The countertops are marble with blue glass subway tile backsplash which gives this coastal renovation the ocean inspired look they desired. The open shelving in the built- in cabinet creates some old world charm as does the butler’s pantry/staging area and wet bar, while still keeping a clean crisp look.
The family room has a sea inspired wall color with a coral motif on the upholstered chairs and some shells, coral, nautical maps and sea inspired accessories really pull the whole room together. The choice of a custom sectional allows for maximum comfort and seating and is done in a kid friendly microfiber fabric making this a great room for TV Viewing and family time.
The black and white prints of sailboats greet you at the entry and set the tone for this coastal theme.
The Living room has white leather club chairs and a navy sofa with white welting. The homeowners wanted this to look clean and crisp and a little more “grown-up” than the family room. The white linen Roman shades have a privacy liner so that they can block out the sunlight or leave them up if desired. With the addition of some coastal accessories, fabrics and spa colors, the homeowner was able to create a consistent sea inspired look throughout the whole floor plan.
