Elevate Your Build: 5 Essential Upgrades for Renovation Success
Whether you are contemplating a new build or looking to add an addition, here are 5 things you should think about adding. Let’s look at these new trends that I think are must-haves for your home.
1
The Front Door
The front door is the gateway to your home. It can make or break your curb appeal from the street, and let’s face it, your guests will see it every time they come. During a renovation or new build, this is the time to invest in getting a new door, one that is welcoming and beautiful, and if you do it right -this is something you only do once.
2
Kitchen Details
In the kitchen, even if you cannot afford the range you want now, plan for it. Make sure you plan your cabinets accordingly so that when you can do it later, you are not ripping out countertops and cabinets. I also highly recommend a pot filler and a designated drawer set as a charging station.
3
Move the Laundry Room Upstairs
This is one in which having a laundry room on the same floor as the majority of bedrooms hits you hard after your 500 million trip to the basement. Plan for it in your new build or renovation; you will be glad you did! Add cabinetry, drying racks, storage, and a sink. Make this room as fun or serene as you wish.
4
Add Recessed Lighting
Don’t skimp on the recessed lighting- you need it in every room. Putting them on dimmers is a must! Yes, you can still have pretty lamps, chandeliers, and pendants.
5
Solid Doors
Some new construction comes with hollow-core doors, which can cause many sound issues and noisy rooms. Solid-core doors are more substantial and will ease the noise.
There is alot to consider when building a new home or undertaking a renovation. As always, I am happy to come help you sort through what you need and how to do it!
