Pound Ridge, New York, Renovation

Warm up the kitchen and completely redesign the music/living room was what this client wanted. kellydesigns added new furniture, lighting and window treatments to the kitchen to enhance the beautiful natural backdrop. In the music/living room, we had custom built-ins installed and selected the new paint color, sofas, chairs, mirror, tables, game table, window treatments and accessories to complete the look.

We added custom built- ins on the far wall of this living room, new fireplace insert and a large scale mirror from Uttermost over the mantle. We added a beautiful grey blue paint from Benjamin Moore (Boothbay Gray) on the walls to lighten and brighten the palette. The custom window treatments are a silk embroidered fabric which pulls all the accent colors of the room and rug. The sofa is from CR Laine and has a new traditional look with accent pillows of brown and red to complement. The wing chairs are in leather also from CR Laine done in a more contemporary style with a chess game table from Uttermost. The bookshelves are filled with mementos, family photos and beautiful pieces of glass and ceramics that the homeowner had collected throughout the years. Behind the sofa is an iron and glass sofa table to provide some height and depth.

The kitchen was updated with a 62” round table from Somerset Bay, rattan chairs and stools from Pottery barn, Bamboo natural woven shades, custom drapery and seat cushions. We also put new seagrass chandelier and lamp on buffet and added seed glass pendants on the island. The homeowner wanted to finish her kitchen, den, living room, office and powder room. She has an expansive yard with beautiful views of nature that we used for inspiration. In the kitchen we used a large 62” round table from Somerset with chairs and stools in natural sea grass from Pottery Barn. The custom window treatments are in loosely woven flax and the natural woven shades all complement the backyard vista without detracting. The pendants and lamp are seeded glass and the chandelier is a natural sea grass.

We painted the office a lovely neutral shade from Benjamin Moore (Wheeling Neutral) and added custom Roman shades in a Duralee pattern and a navy-camel-red Persian rug. The office had been a catch-all for old furniture and books. The homeowners needed storage space and bookshelves and room for computers for the whole family. We added a corner desk and return as well as a free standing desk from Sligh and 2 bookcases –one with cabinets for added storage. The desk chair is from Ballard Design and is upholstered in chenille stripe from Stout Fabrics.

The master bath was gutted. We widened the opening and moved it over. Used travertine large porcelanosa rectangle tiles on the floor and smaller travertine in the steam shower and on surface top of the tub. We used a large Kohler under mount tub and a beautiful mosaic tile as the surround. With the natural backdrop over the tub, we wanted to incorporate the colors of nature. The valances are custom made by kellydesigns. The antiqued chandelier adds a bit of elegance to this rustic decor. The cabinets and architectural sconces are from Restoration Hardware. The balance of natural colors and stone with these stunning sconces and rustic but elegant cabinets makes for a beautiful master bath and retreat.

In the Master Bedroom, full length drapery panels and bedding was custom made to complement the new master bath.

The powder room before had wallpaper and was a bit dated. The homeowner wanted to update it and we decided on using a sea grass wall covering from ABA, Porcelanosa large scale tiles on the floor, shutter cabinet and crema marble sink and vanity from Restoration Hardware. The mirror was made from old barn wood as were the frames for the bird paintings. This room now complements the beautiful backyard vista and kitchen décor.
